Quilling, or paper filigree, is the art of rolling thin strips of paper into different shapes and using the shapes to form designs. Quilling has been around since the Renaissance age, but the craft has gone through many transformations and changes through the ages using new techniques, styles, and materials.
It’s hard to believe that quilling is one of the easiest crafts to learn. Nearly all quilling designs are done with just a few variations of basic rolls and scrolls. There are many tools that are available to assist you with your quilling. Templates ensure that your elements are uniform in size, slotted tools make rolling a cinch for the beginner, and books and classes assist in instructing how to create various designs.
If you want to impress, quilling is the way to go! I love this craft and am always amazed at what can be created with just a few strips of paper. Why don’t you give it a try?
